Affordable options
Take a look at our mission statement and you’ll find a puzzle: how to support local agriculture and provide healthy food while keeping prices affordable. Food from small-scale producers just can’t match the prices at supermarkets and big box stores. And paying our local farmers and other suppliers fairly for their good food puts it beyond the budget of many low-income eaters.
At Quabbin Harvest we’re working to solve this puzzle through lower-cost options and creative partnerships that help make high-quality, fresh, and local foods available to everyone.
- We accept SNAP/EBT.
- We offer many staple items in bulk. Check out our selection of flours, beans, pastas, spices, and teas.
- Anyone can pre-order a case of anything we stock or anything in the UNFI catalog of thousands of items. Most health and beauty items are also available singly for pre-order. Get 5% off your order, or 10% if you’re a Quabbin Harvest member.
We've also adapted our signature flexible produce share program to offer no-cost shares through a range of different year-round and seasonal partnerships under the umbrella of our Community Shares Program. These include:
- The Healthy Incentives Program provides 100% reimbursement to SNAP recipients for biweekly vegetables and/or fruit shares. Amount of reimbursement varies with household size and benefit level. Fill out an enrollment form in the store (or download it here) and bring or mail it to us at 12 North Main Street, Orange MA 01364) by the 15th of the month. Program runs year-round. Shares are available for pickup starting at 3:30 pm on Tuesday and all day Wednesday. Funded through the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance.
- During the summer growing season, we partner with area organizations to provide fresh weekly produce shares delivered to low-income area seniors. See next section for info about current and upcoming senior shares and other special seasonal programs.
