Recipe: Nutmeg-Glazed Almonds

Yields about 2.5 cups


  • 2 cups almonds
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. Preheat oven to 300 F.
  2. When the oven is heated, turn it off and place the almonds on a baking sheet.
  3. Melt the sugar in a heavy bottomed skillet over medium-high heat.  Stir constantly until the sugar is a golen brown syrup (about 10 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat.  Quickly stir in nutmeg and salt.  Pour quickly over warm nuts.
  5. Allow to cool.
  6. It will harden into a sheet.  Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
